On Day 2 of his three-day trip to Bengal on Wednesday, BJP President lashed out at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in her own constituency, Bhowanipore.

“Mission Bengal will not be completed till BJP forms government here in Bengal and from what I have seen in Bengal since yesterday, people are tired of this prevailing TMC misrule and Mamata Banerjee’s politics of appeasement and are looking at BJP to bring about a change here. I strongly believe that in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, BJP will emerge as the winner of the highest number of seats from Bengal,” he said after a booth-level meeting. Later, he visited two residences in the local slum area and had fruits and sweets with the residents.

Shah slammed Mamata saying she had only been doing politics of appeasement and had been blocking welfare projects of the Centre. “Here people have to move courts for immersion of Durga idols and organising Saraswati Puja. The Centre had sent several thousand crores of money for different welfare schemes of Bengal but the TMC had not let them reach the grassroot level to prevent the popularity of Modi among the masses.

“There is no development of industries and the only industry that is seen here is making of bombs,” Shah said. He also reiterated it at a meeting with intellectual later during the day saying that if Centre was sending money why was there no employment, no proper roads or lights.

“We have decided that all our major programmes will begin on Saraswati Puja day,” he said addressing intellectuals at Mahajati Sadan auditorium.

Referring to demonetization, he took a dig at Mamata saying, “The step had been taken against people who had a lot of black money. Why are people who wear ‘hawai chappals’ bothered?”

Asked about the alleged atrocities of ‘gau rakshaks’ he said, “Everyone should abide by the law and no one should take the law in their hands. Those found guilty would be strictly dealt with, according to the law of the land.”
