In a shocking case of medical negligence reported from West Bengal, a class X student passed away after being treated by a mechanic who masqueraded as a doctor.

Arijit Das from Birbhum district of Bengal had appeared for three exams before he fell seriously ill, reports Zee 24 Ghanta. With symptoms of high fever and pain, he was admitted to Annapurna hospital in Burdwan. But when the situation didn't improve, his family decided to shift him to a reputed nursing home in Kolkata. For transporting him to Kolkata, the family hired an ambulance. They paid Rs 8000 for the ambulance and another Rs 8000 as doctor's fee. However Arijit was brought dead to the Kolkata hospital. During the journey, family grew suspicious seeing the driver fixing the oxygen cylinder and the doctor remaining silent. However in Kolkata, once it was found Arijit was dead, the entire scam was unearthed. The fake doctor Sheikh Sarfarajuddin was an ac mechanic, and had no medical expertise. Infact, that's the reason they tried to persuade the family for not travelling in the ambulance.

The driver Tara Babu Shah and Sheikh have been arrested. Police is looking into who all are part of this nexus.
