BJP has appointed its spokesperson Anil Baluni as national head of the party’s media department.

He will replace Shrikant Sharma, who is now Uttar Pradesh power minister, after winning the assembly election from Mathura.

The party has also appointed Bihar MLC Sanjay Mayukh as co-head of the media department, a statement said.

BJP President Amit Shah had inducted Baluni into his team in 2014 as national spokesperson.

Baluni, who is from Uttarakhand, has been saying that the credit for the party’s victory in the state goes to a slogan coined by Shah.  Last November, Shah gave the tagline for the state polls saying “Atalji  ne banaya, Modiji sawarange (Atal Bihari Vajpayee created Uttarakhand, Modi will adorn it).”

Baluni had not got a ticket to fight the election in his home state.
