BJP national president Amit Shah tried to corner Congress's three generations during the launch of Gujarat Gaurav Yatra's second phase for Saurashtra region from Porbandar on Monday.

Shah said that one should compare the rule of Congress's three generations to the present NDA government's three years, to decide which party is pro-development. He also took a jibe at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for his remarks against BJP-ruled Gujarat government.

Shah said, "Rahul Gandhi said that he did not witness development. I would ask Rahul Baba to remove his Italian glasses and to see from the eyes of a Gujarati person. If he does this, he will know what development is," Shah said.

"If he compares the changes that our country has undergone during the three generations of Congress as opposed to the tenure of NDA government, he will realise who has been instrumental in bringing about change," the national party president said.

Shah further added, "During the Congress's rule, there was 'Gunda Raaj' in Gujarat and there were boards at the border of Porbandar which stated that 'police territory ends here'.

The people in Gujarat were scared of goons who had political shelter. Today, Gujarat has prospered due to the efforts of the BJP government."

He again addressed the issue of 'Vikas' and said, "Some elements have been asking what is the BJP proud about? We are proud of the development we have made by providing Narmada water for drinking and irrigation in Saurashtra, supplying 24 hours continuous power in the state, establishing peace and safety, launching schemes for farmers, women, students, unemployed youth, and deprived communities."

The Gaurav Yatra in Saurashtra will be presided by Gujarat BJP chief Jitu Vaghani and move further to 15 more districts across the region. The BJP is aiming for maximum seats in the Saurashtra region which is influenced by the Patel and Dalit agitation. During his speech, Shah also stated that the assembly polls in Gujarat will be held in the first week of December.
