BJP president Amit Shah is connecting with party "marg darshaks" and "karyakartas".

A day after the meeting with RSS, Shah along with finance minister Arun Jaitley, went to meet the party's senior leaders -- LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi. The meeting also comes ahead of the party national executive being held in Bengaluru in the first week of April.

Both Advani and Joshi are part of the five-member "Marg Darshak Mandal", which has not had a single meeting ever since it was formed in August last year. The other members of the panel are prime minister Narendra Modi, former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and home minister Rajnath Singh. Vajpayee, Advani and Joshi were dropped from the BJP's parliamentary board, the party's highest decision-making body, and made members of the new body.

Though details of the meetings with the two leaders were not available, it is understood that it was part of an exercise to keep them in the loop on the developments. Jaitley, Shah, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Nitin Gadkari were present at the meeting with top RSS leaders on Monday.

Meanwhile, Shah has also put in place a mechanism to be in regular touch with party workers, devoting two days every month for it at the BJP headquarters. An inhouse circular issued recently said that every first and third Mondays of the month, Shah will be available for party workers, who can meet him "without any appointment" between 11 am and 5 pm.

With the Delhi debacle still haunting the BJP and its ideological mentor, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the organisation is pulling out all the stops to ensure that it is aware of the signals from the ground in other election-bound states like Bihar.

According to sources, the Sangh was concerned about the BJP's over-confidence in Delhi despite the feed back about its bleak prospects. At the meeting, in which the Sangh expressed concern over the anti-government campaign over the land acquisition bill, the preparedness of states heading for elections was also discussed.
