Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur has alleged that Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh Pakistani friends are living at the cost of the state exchequer.

Harsimrat Kaur made the remarks in an exclusive interview with WION.

"When we were in power, power supply was uninterrupted, but now the chief minister wants to sell power to Pakistan and people know why he has not lost love for the country. Pakistani friends live with Chief Minister Amarinder Singh at the cost of Punjab's exchequer. They are welcomed by Singh," she added.

Kaur also targeted Singh for not meeting the Canadian Defence Minister Harjit Singh Sajjan when he came to Punjab."Sajjan has made us proud by becoming the Defence Minister of Canada and Amarinder refused to meet him, but in Canada he goes and attends Khalistani sammelans (gatherings)," she said.

When asked about the Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP alliance's debacle in Punjab, she claimed that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's pro-Khalistani campaign shifted urban voters away from them to the Congress Party.

After steering the Congress to a stupendous victory in Punjab, Amarinder Singh was on March 16, sworn-in as the state's 26th Chief Minister.

The Congress secured 77 out of 117 seats in the state Assembly polls making a strong comeback after a decade. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 20 seats in its debut in the state, making it the second largest party in the Punjab Assembly. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance fared the worst, with 18 seats.
