Uttar Pradesh government today told the Allahabad High Court that it was taking all steps for improving the standard of primary schools maintained by the Basic Education Board.
Advocate General Raghvendra Singh stated this before the Lucknow bench of justices Sudhir Agarwal and Virendra Kumar.
The court, accordingly, directed the chief secretary as well as the principal secretary (basic education) of Uttar Pradesh Government to submit a detailed affidavit.
The bench also asked the principal secretary to remain present in the court on May 24, the next date of hearing.
The court was hearing a public interest litigation filed by social activist Nutan Thakur.
