Akhilesh's alert plan wins, too late

Even as the political fortunes of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav are yet to revive, schemes launched by his erstwhile government are getting global recognition. Yadav's 'UP Dial 100' emergency services has bagged the prestigious Global Icon Award 2017 at Las Vegas.

Rahul Srivastava, a spokesperson from the UP DGP's office, said that the UP police had bagged the Gobal Icon Award 2017 at the annual conference of Hexagon Safety and Infrastructure. "The award was given by the organisation to the UP police for offering the best emergency services to people of the state through the 'UP Dial 100' services," he added.

The award was received by Ernst and Young, which is the consulting body for executing the emergency services in Uttar Pradesh. "The 'UP Dial 100' service is a world-class policing facility offered by the UP police. The company is proud to be associated with the project," said E&Y's Stewan Cast after receiving the award.

'UP Dial 100' was the only entry from India that bagged this prestigious award. Others who were given awards in different categories include Bayenwerk (Germany), Bell (Canada) and US Marine Corps System Command Virginia, USA).
