Free BEST passes for school children, insurance cover for BEST employees, construction of a separate dam to provide drinking water to Thane, and more has been promised by Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray.
Announcing poll sops eyeing BMC, Thane and Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation elections, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday announced that all the school children within BMC areas would be provided with free BEST passes.
Addressing a press conference at his Matoshree bungalow, Thackeray said that the detailed manifesto for the BMC elections would be released soon.
Thackeray said that after a school girl's suicide for not having money to buy bus pass, he had asked transport minister Diwakar Raote to provide free passes for school girls. He said that on the same line all the school students in BMC areas would be given free BEST bus passes.
He also stated that even though it was an old demand, the BEST employees would be provided with insurance cover.
Announcing the poll sops for Thanekars, Thackeray said that the property tax waiver for 500 sq ft flat owners would be given in Thane if Shiv Sena is voted to power.
He said that as announced before, for Mumbaikars, for flat owners with an area of more than 500 and less than 700 sq ft, concessions would be provided. For those with bigger flats, subsidies and concessions for various community projects like solid waste management would be provided.
Thackeray said that Shiv Sena would build a separate dam for providing drinking water to Thane. He also announced a central park spread over 30 acres at Kolshet which would have theme park, play zone for children and a lake.
Minister Eknath Shinde displayed the proposed plan and map for the central park at Kolshet. Thackeray announced that a beach would be created at Kharegaon on the lines of Singapore. He announced that the health insurance cover scheme would also be provided in these areas on the lines of those which he had announced last week.
