Accident blocks Goa-Belgaum route

The Goa - Belgaum route was blocked for more than six hours on Wednesday as a trailer carrying a wheel loaders turned turtle on the highway.

Traffic moving from Mollem to Anmod Ghat could not move ahead due to the accident. All vehicles had to be diverted via Karnataka check post to avoid the blocked highway.

"I suddenly heard loud sound. I was driving just behind the trailer. The trailer started skidding. I immediately braked. It turned and collapsed," an eye witness told reporters.

The road was cleared on Wednesday evening after a crane pulled the trailer and the wheel loaders off the road.

"One of the wheel loaders fell from the trailer. However, nobody was injured. Two cranes were brought into service and the road was cleared," the police said.
