5 women arrested for stealing dress material worth Rs 25 lakh

The police today arrested five women for an alleged theft of dress material worth Rs 25.80 lakh from a godown in suburban Kandivali.

The accused -- their ages ranging from 23 to 50 -- lived in the area near S V Road where the godown is located, police said.

They entered the godown using a duplicate key and stole cartons of expensive Punjabi dress material over three or four nights last week, said senior police inspector Mukund Pawar.

All five women were arrested today and produced before a court which sent them in police custody till July 24, he said.

The police are yet to recover the stolen dress material from them.
