Angelina Jolie says she wants her children to be true to their work.

The 42-year-old star, who worked alongside her sons Maddox (16) and Pax (13) on First They Killed My Father, says it was a "joy" to have her kids on board the production, reports Entertainment Tonight.

"It was a joy. I want them to have a strong work ethic. When I looked over and I saw (Maddox) and Pax working with the other crew. It was just wonderful," says Jolie.

The actor believes the setting of the movie, which was filmed in Cambodia where Maddox was born, has helped him evolve.

"I think (that) helped him to grow and evolve in a way that I couldn't do myself. His country had to teach him."
