'Run All Night' Review: A Liam Neeson film through and through

Director: Jaume Collet-Serra
Cast: Liam Neeson, Ed Harris, Joel Kinnaman, Vincent D’Onofrio, Boyd Holbrook
Rating: ***

What it's about: Jimmy Conlon used to be a hitman. Now he's a drunk and his son Mike won't have anything to do with him. He's happy being away from a world of crime, working as a limo driver. But Mike gets unwittingly drawn into an incident where he becomes a target for his father's boss' son. Complicated? Well, Jimmy manages to reach in time to save his son, but ends up killing his boss Shawn's son.
He tells Shawn, but doesn't count on him going after his entire family for vengeance. Father and son go on the run, but with a hitman on their tail, it won't be that easy.

What's hot: Neeson is the brightest spark on the block, but dulled by years and years of vengeance-filled films, it's something of a disappointment seeing him walking the trodden path. Kinnaman as Mike holds his own and knows his way around the action-scape. He impresses in a film that has stalwarts like Neeson and Harris.

What's not: The ups and downs are a little too constant and a tad unnecessary.

What to do:  Watch this one for Liam Neeson. The man still has it. If only somebody gave him something different to do!
