Where’s our money, Firoz Nadiadwala?

Anil Kapoor and director Anees Bazmee are owed money by Welcome Back’s producer. They back down after threatening to stall film. Why?

If the release of Welcome Back (on September 4) had been stalled, the film would have been in financial jeopardy.  And all this because of unpaid dues!

Apparently, the film’s producer Firoz Nadiadwala hasn’t paid his director Anees Bazmee and actor Anil Kapoor their remunerations yet. The two then sought the aid of film federations in recovery of their dues and in stalling the film, in case of failure to do so. The duo even refused to go for the Dubai premiere, which was cancelled last minute.

Says a source, “Firoz owes Anees Rs 4 crore and Anil Kapoor Rs4-5 crore. Both demanded their dues be cleared before the film’s release. In fact, this is also the reason why the film’s Dubai premiere was cancelled. But better sense prevailed and the director and actor decided not to block the film’s release.”

At the time of going to print, the two were not paid their dues, but have been promised that they will be.

Good luck with that!
