Versova-based, detox consultant, Sneha Tyrewala’s celeb client list ticks some big names from the Bollywood and the TV industry. The likes of which include actors Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Vaani Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Siddharth Shukla, Rashmi Desai, and Ekta Kapoor, among others. All of whom have come to her based on references and word-of-mouth.

Sneha started her career as an intern working for a cardiologist for four-and-a-half years. At the time, she was also pursuing a course as a clinical-based dietician, but soon realised she wanted to get into food data. She was lucky to land a job as a nutritionist at a Los Angeles-based talent agency, where she got an opportunity to help Haley and Hilary Duff achieve their body goals with a complete transformation that required an overhaul of their eating habits and exercise routine among other things. She also worked on actor Jessica Alba for a short time to help her achieve a particular type of body for a magazine photoshoot. Sneha has also worked in hospital dietician rooms. Then in 2013, she got an offer to work back home and made a beeline for the country. In her initial stint with the entertainment industry, she helped actors like Aarya Babbar, and other celebs from Nach Baliye achieve body transformation and keep off the pounds.

She is not big on using public relations to promote her brand The Detox, because she believes her work speaks for itself. Not a believer in labels like doctor, dietician or nutritionist, Sneha prefers being referred to as a detox consultant as that’s primarily her area of interest. Putting in around at least 15 hours a day on an average, she shuttles between her office and her kitchen, both of which are based in Versova. Sign up with her and she promises to help you transform your body. She informs, “The maximum weight my clients have lost is eight to 10 kgs or four to five kgs following my diet plan for 30 days. Sticking to it for 90 days has helped them lose around 15 to 20 kilos.” While diet and exercise go hand in hand, detox also plays a vital role.

Who needs detox?

Sneha says, “Even if you watch your diet, and eat healthy, you are not going to see results if you do not flush out the toxins from your body. Which is where The Detox comes in. To begin with, I ask my clients for their report card (blood reports) and also request them to share their basic personal information along with their medical/family history with details covering the medication, diet, exercise and fitness routine.”

Sneha goes on to share that no one diet is similar and what may work for someone else, may not work for you as your body requirements are different. While a lot of people have apprehensions about following a diet plan. It’s simple to do with The Detox as they focus on providing healthy, fun food. She adds, “We customise meal plans to accommodate a client’s craving for a particular food. For example, we do buckwheat pastas or parathas for lunch or buckwheat pancakes for breakfast with fresh strawberries. The idea is to have food that’s both healthy and looks as good as it tastes.” And if you need to travel, she suggests foods that you can have while away and recommends a detox the moment you are back in the city. Something even her star clients like Malaika and Arjun, abide by, to name a few.

A hands-on detox consultant

While Sneha begins her day early at around 3 am daily, supervising and tasting meals in the kitchen. She’s there till about 7 am on most days, making sure every meal meets her exact standards. This is followed by a power nap from 8.30 am to 10 am, ready to start the day with consulations at her Versova office from 11 am till around 9 pm. On an average she winds up work and makes it home by 10 pm. While Sundays, see her only in the kitchen as she takes a break from consultations. She does make it a point to eat a light and healthy meal, and is particularly fond of a healthy pasta, lots of veggies, especially greens.

Talking about the challenges she has faced when it comes to sourcing certain ingredients, Sneha says, “Lot of the super food powders that are part of my meal plans are not easily available here. Even seeds, atta, bagel dough and gluten free products are hard to come by. So, I end up importing these from the US, and my relatives, who are based there also help me with the same. We are also constantly on the lookout for good organic food vendors. Currently, we source a lot of organic foods like quinoa, fruits and veggies from Nashik, Gujarat, Vashi and Mahabaleshwar.”
