Superman flies through his 75 year legacy

Superman is one of the most recognisable icons in American popular culture, and it's been 75 years since he became a global phenomenon. The immense impact he's had on the world of comics, television and movies is astounding.

Here's a video of Superman through the ages, with glimpses of popular story-lines, the appearances he's made in films and the DC animated universe, as well as some of the best art work to feature the Man of Steel, all to the tune of the one and only John Williams' Superman score.

The film was overseen by Warner Bros. with Zack Snyder directing.

"We recently teamed up with Warner Bros Animation and MOI Studio to help bring their vision for Superman's 75th anniversary to life. The animation was conceived by Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and artist Bruce Timm with Jay Olivia handling the overall direction. We worked on the backgrounds and the art direction for the animation which features some of the most iconic scenes from Supermans past which span over half a century."
