Special function to celebrate Shashi Kapoor's Dada Phalke Award

It's almost going to be the kind of nostalgic reunion that Raj Kapoor planned in Mera Naam Joker to the sound of Jeena Yahan Marna Yahan Isske Siva Jaana Kahaan... On Sunday May 10, the Minister of Information & Broadcasting Shri Arun Jaitley will fly down to Mumbai to present the Dadasaheb Phalke award to Shashi Kapoor.

Rather than make it a cut-and-dried affair Shashi's son, Kunal has decided to turn the award ceremony into a grand reunion event at Shashi's landmark Prithvi Theatre. Says a source, "Kunal has invited all of his father's relatives, friends, colleagues, associates and admirers at the Prithvi Theatre at 11 am. Everyone who matters in Shashi's life will be there."

Among others, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan who are close friends of Shashi, are expected to attend this historic get-together. Says Rishi Kapoor emotionally, "It's a big moment for all of us. We are all going to be there to see Shashi uncle receive the prestigious award from Mr Jaitley. Kunal has planned many other things on Sunday morning. The entire family is excited."
