Looks like the current chief of the Central Board of Film Certification Pahlaj Nihalani, was once upset with the norms of the 'sanskaari' Censor Board. This was back when Nihalani was a Bollywood producer and his 1996 film titled Dil Tera Diwana was caught in some "senseless" censoring.

The movie had Twinkle Khanna and Saif Ali Khan playing the leads. The Censor Board had raised certain objections about the film which reportedly didn't go down well with Nihalani. The CBFC found the pelvic thrusts and dance movements of the lead pair in a song objectionable and vulgar. They even had reservations against Twinkle's attire in a specific scene.

Here's what Nihalani had apparently said on the issue back then, "I don't think there was anything vulgar about the dance" insisting that "I am sure they would have had no objection if I had shot a seductive song instead..." Furthermore, he found the objections on Twinkle's dress "senseless" saying, "It was a ridiculous objection. Are they going to stop showing women’s tennis on television? Twinkle only wore cycling shorts with a skirt on top. The censors seemed to mistake the shorts for underwear. Are they living in the 18th century?”

Yes! This is the same Nihalani who demanded 89 cuts in Anurag Kashyap's Udta Punjab and about 50 cuts in Abhishek Jawkar's Missing on a Weekend.

Kashyap shared a news clip about Nihalani's comments about the CBFC on his Facebook page, captioning it, "Look what I found.. Blast from the past.."

Here's the clip of the said report:
