Sarabhai actors put on 3 kilos during the shoot, here's why

The entire cast of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, which is returning for a Take 2 on the digital platform, put on at least three kilos during the shoot, reveals producer JD Majethia. He says, “Every actor except Ratna Pathak Shah has put on weight in the last 15-20 days. It was evident from the fact we had to loosen the clothes that were stitched for all the actors including Satish Shah, Rupali Ganguly and Rajesh Kumar. What happened was everybody would get food from home and the quantity was so much that it could feed 15 people! All of us would sit together and eat, but even then there would be a lot of food, which people refused to leave.” JD, who had the most challenging job of getting all the actors to reprise their roles, shares that this time he went a step beyond. “I went with Rajesh (Rosesh) to get his hair cut in that particular style, buy his clothes and sat with Ratnaji who had to try out three-four wigs and worked on Satishji’s patch of hair.”

Since the series will air on a digital platform, which is free from censorship, have they made it a little bold? “We haven’t used any cuss words. However, Jasmin, a new character introduced in the series, speaks English in a peculiar style. People may feel that some of her sentences have a sexual innuendo, but it is not so. That’s because she does literal translation from Hindi to English and if you see it in that context, it is perfect.”
