Sanjay Gupta’s character missing from Sanjay Dutt biopic

Sanjay Gupta doesn’t feature in Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on Sanjay Dutt despite having known the star for over two decades. The two even have a production company together.

An industrywala reasons, “Maybe Gupta doesn’t feature in the film because he has been against the Dutt biopic from the beginning. The director believes that it’s too early for a film on Dutt to be made.”

Says a source, “Their friendship hit a rough patch in 2007, but they made up five years later. While the two are yet to announce their next film, their friendship remains strong as ever. Though, It’s a bit weird that one of Baba’s oldest friends has been left out of the biopic.”    

A friend of Gupta says, “Gups does not mind that he’s been left out from the biopic. He firmly believes that making a biopic on Dutt now is like writing off the star’s career too soon; almost like an obituary to his profession. Sanju has a great many years left in him and it will be sad for fans to miss out on that.”    

Gupta remained unavailable for comment.
