Last week, there were reports about how Salman Khan had acquired the remake rights of celebrated south filmmaker Puri Jagannadh’s upcoming film, Rogue. Apparently, the filmmaker had a closed door meeting with Salman Khan during his last Mumbai visit, during which he had showed Salman the rushes of the film.

There was also talk that Salman had requested Puri to realign the subject keeping Sooraj Pancholi in mind, since he was eager to cast the young actor in the film. Puri Jagnnadh, who is currently giving final touches to his trilingual in Hyderabad, recently spoke about the news and the great equation he shared with Salman. “It is true that I had a meeting with Salman during which I narrated the story of Rogue to him.”

According to Puri, Salman was quite fascinated by the unique romantic angle of Rogue, “It is a very different kind of a love story. The protagonist’s characterization is of a rogue who is arrogant but with a kind heart and finds himself in extraordinary circumstances. Salman was no doubt excited but I also narrated a few other stories. Salman had told me earlier that he was very keen to make a film with actor Sooraj Pancholi and he was looking for a really good story. We would be zeroing in on one of the stories very soon,” Puri revealed.

The famed director, who’s known to wrap up films in an incredible period of time and has an amazing success ratio at the box-office, denied reports that Salman had also shown a keen interest in remaking his other film, ISM. “I didn’t narrate ISM to Salman and he does not know about its story. However, I did share some unexplored ideas with him and he seemed to be thrilled with all of them,” he said.

According to Puri, this wasn’t one of his rare meetings with Salman. The two were in touch with each other over the years, “We both meet and discuss various subjects from time to time. Our meetings are always fun filled, enjoyable and unforgettable,” he says.

The general perception is that Salman became a huge fan of his after the tremendous success of the Pokiri remake, Wanted, after which he had been keeping in regular touch with the filmmaker. However Puri begged to differ, “On the contrary, I am a big fan of Salman.  I have not seen a larger than life star other than him. I can confidently say that he is the only star in the nation who can take the box-office by storm with his towering presence. Moreover that doesn’t take away his humility from him. What I like best about him is the fact that he is eternally brimming with ideas to make films. That’s one of the reasons why meeting him even for a day gives me great high of directing a film,” Puri smiled.
