Here's all you need to know about the film...
Anushka Sharma is all set to bring to us her second production venture titled Phillauri. The trailer of the film has already been gathering immense applauds from the B-Town and the two songs that have been released from the film are also becoming quite popular.
Till now, we all know that Anushka plays a friendly spirit in the film but the makers were very careful to craft an entertaining trailer and at the same time they did not reveal much about the plot of the film.
Here's what the film is all about:
Set in Punjab, Phillauri is about a NRI Punjabi boy named Kanan (played by Suraj Sharma) who returns to India to get married to his childhood sweetheart. As luck would have it, his horoscope reads that he is a Manglik and that he would need to marry a tree before he can marry Anu (played by Mehreen Pirzada) to ward off any threat to his love life.
Grudgingly he gets married to the tree and to his shock, he finds himself being trailed by an unearthly entity who is revealed as Shashi - the friendly spirit (played by Anushka Sharma). Shashi used to live on the tree and when Kanan married the tree (and then the family chopped it down as a ritual) she finds herself in the world of Kanan not knowing what to do and figuring how she is facing such a predicament.
In the course of the film's journey we find there is a poignant beautiful, unfulfilled romantic back story of Shashi with Phillauri (Diljit Dosanjh) that becomes that centre-plot of the film.
Phillauri is a fun, family entertainer that is being noticed for its extremely unique content where Anushka plays a friendly ghost from the past whose love story with Diljit unfolds in the backdrop of a present day Punjabi wedding.
Audiences have got really curious about their romance as the trailer hints at Anushka and Diljit's unfulfilled romance from a by-gone era without giving any more detail about why Anushka in the trailer says she has some unfulfilled business to complete in present day Punjab.
