Cop films have always turned tables around in Bollywood and many heavyweight B-Town actors have tried their hand at playing cop on screen. From the Khans to the Bachchans and even the Roshans, each superstar has had played at least one memorable cop character on screen. Not withstanding, how the films fared at the box office, on Republic Day, we bring you nine Bollywood actors who simply stumped us with their cop avatar and looked really hot in the uniform!
Amitabh Bachchan
He's the baap of all actors when it comes to Hindi films and time and again, Big B, has experimented with his look and style in his films. While he floored us with his top cop avatar in Zanjeer, the actor looked equally hot when he decided to turn a cop, adorning the khadi uniform once again after decades! And the result, as we all know, was outstanding. While Khakee made us fall in love with him once again, it was Colonel Sunil Damle from Lakshya that hit the right chord.
Shah Rukh Khan
Being an army man made him famous even before he became King Khan for all. Starting from television, SRK's first TV outing- Fauji where he essayed Abhimanyu's character brought him the necessary recognition. While people started calling him by his character's name, little did they know that the young lad from Fauji will become a superstar one day! A blink-and-you-miss-it role in Army along with a full fledged army officer character in Veer Zaara, SRK won a million hearts. Recently too, Shah Rukh attempted at adorning the army man's uniform in Yash Chopra's swan song Jab Tak Hai Jaan. And although you might not have liked the film much but you simply can not take your eyes off the suave and too-hot-to-handle army man Samar Anand in the movie.
Salman Khan
While most actors and their supreme star power scored higher than their characters, it was Chulbul Pandey which became a huger phenomenon. One of the only iconic cop characters- one that connected with the masses almost instantly for its mad antics, it was Salman Khan's cop avatar which somehow helped him make his way to the top-one more time. Dabangg became a rage and Dabangg 2 added to it but Heroes failed to work its way (Salman still looked quite hot though!). Ever since then, there have been actors who tried to imitate our Pandey ji but no one has yet matched up to his histrionics. Salman never looked better and we are going to give all credit to the smoking hot uniform.
Aamir Khan
He played a police officer in Sarfarosh, bringing in accolades and winning hearts worldwide but he did not wear the uniform. However in 2012, Aamir Khan simply floored everyone, looking dashing and dapper in his khakee uniform. Talaash might have been a downer and not worked as well as expected but Aamir's character lingered on even after we came out of the theatres!
Akshay Kumar
Akshay does almost four films a year and hence, there have been repetitions of his characters. However, having played a cop on screen several times in films like Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Aan, Khakee and Special 26, Akshay changes his look and body type for each film, so as to bring in a dash of variety on the table. Akshay- 'the actor' can makes girls go weak in thier knees but Akshay-'the policeman' ups the hotness quotient notches higher.
Ajay Devgn
His most memorable films have him playing a tough police officer. Be it Gangaajal, Singham or Singham Returns, cop characters have worked wonders for Ajay Devgn, bringing in both critical and commercial successes. Despite not being the hot-guy-that-everyone-wants-to-love, Ajay looked handsome and fetching in his police uniform. No doubt about that.
Hrithik Roshan
The film Lakshya for many of us was about Hrithik Roshan playing a confused, lost man who realises what his dreams are. But for the girls out there, Lakshya was more than just the aspirations and inspirations. Having Hrithik walk in that uniform looking sharp, upped the hotness quotient likenothing else. The uniform rather accentuated Duggu's Greek God looks and perfect body shape...Oh, it's getting too hot here, already. Someone, call the fire brigade!
Sanjay Dutt
Contrary to his off screen image, Sanjay Dutt has played a policeman with nuanced conviction not just one, but several times. Be it the forgettable Policegiri, the gritty Shootout at Wadala or his other police attempts, Sanjay Dutt has aced the look. He's one of the few who has probably played the ruffian and the cop with equal panache. Our pick would be Mission Kashmir where a superlative performance by Dutt was highlighted with his tough-cop look.
Sonu Sood
Last but not the least, it's Bollywood hunk Sonu Sood who has stolen our hearts with his really hot police man avatar from an utterly gibberish Big B starrer (Remember Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap, anyone?). While the film gave us headaches, Sonu Sood's impeccable looks for was why we still could not take our eyes off the screen. Hotness personified, Sonu's hot-bod cop version definitely is worth a mention.
