Much buzz has been created by Drishyam ever since the trailer for the movie came out. This is more so because the Singham star Ajay Devgn is seen playing an intense role after quite some time. As a matter of fact, Mohanlal, superstar from the Malayalam film industry, who was lauded for the Malyalam version of the film, wished the team for the Hindi rendition, saying, "Drishyam is a beautiful script that is close to my heart. I wish Ajay and the team the very best. I'm sure it will be a great success", he told an English daily.

Taking on a different streak, the National Award-winner Ajay who is known for his audacious and novel stunt moves, is seen flexing his grey cells to get past adversities instead of fighting them with muscles. Playing the character of a common man Vijay Salgaonkar, Ajay will be seen outsmarting police at their every step.

Tabu, on the other hand, will be playing the character of a cop, IG Meera Deshmukh. The movie has an intriguing plot with an engaging potboiler tied to it. Tabu has loved the film's script ever since she saw the original Malyalam film. At the time, she had not thought she would be approached for the role of the cop in the film. This captivating thriller, that has a dynamic script to it, has been loved by the audience in its southern versions.
