From the writers of The Hangover trilogy comes a movie which gives overworked mothers, mothers who are trying to be perfect while balancing the kids, married life, and a demanding career, a chance to let loose and be the definition of a bad parent in the pop-cornish liberty only a fluffy Hollywood movie will allow.

Mila Kunis plays protagonist Amy. Amy has a job at a hip start-up, she is a mother of two and also has a dog to look after. When she finally decides to go to the dark side, she is accompanied by Kiki (Kirsten Bell) and Carla (Kathryn Hahn).

A new mom herself, Mila Kunis tells us about the movie and her moments as a parent to her baby girl.

What made you sign up for Bad Moms?

Reading the script, you’d think a woman wrote it, but talking to Jon and Scott, you realise it’s an homage to their wives. I said I’d play any of these parts. I wanted to do something I could relate to. The idea of an ensemble also appealed to me. I didn’t want to be isolated and I wanted to do something fun.

Tell us something about your character Amy.

She had a baby at 19 and another one at 20, and has had to hustle ever since to make it work. Everybody can relate to that in some form. You strive for everything to be perfect and forget that the messy parts of life are what make life happen.

Tell us about your favourite character in the movie?

Carla. She’s the glue that holds us all together. My character doesn’t really know where she is in life. Kiki is quiet and shy and to watch Kristen Bell, who’s so strong and feisty, be meek is really comical. But Carla? She’s loud and amazing and takes life head on.

Who, according to you, is a 'Bad Mom'?

A bad mom, within the film’s parameters, would give her kid processed foods. Her kid would probably not wear organic clothing and might not shower every day. A bad mom’s kid would watch one hour too much television and not speak three languages. Her kid would sometimes have to wait for her to pick him up from school. I’ll tell you really proudly that my mom has done all those things and I’m still alive. And I love her. So clearly, it’s okay.

How was the experience of shooting Bad Moms?

It felt like the fastest shoot I've ever been on in my life.I'm actually still sad about it and I very rarely get actually sad when finishing a movie.

Tell us about your hilarious parenthood moment.

Sometimes babies projectile poop, and it was one of those days where there was a lot of poop. I turn around and Ashton's like, 'I got it, babe!' And then I turned back around, and he literally bathed her in the sink, which is fine, and then wrapped her in an entire roll of paper towels.

Confused I asked, 'What are you doing?' and he's like, 'Drying her up!' and he goes, 'I couldn't find the towel.' She was cocooned in this little Bounty roll, and I was like, 'Oh my god I love you so much!' It made me so happy. I took so many photos of it.

Tell us about the one mistake you made as a mom.

You have to pack all this stuff up in anticipation of everything going horribly wrong with the first baby. And I was like, ‘I did it.’ I put her in the car. Like, I high-five myself. [As] I’m driving down the 101, I was like ‘Oh my God, I’m doing really good today. She was being really quiet, and I was like, ‘Oh, let me look in the rearview mirror to make sure everything’s okay, And I look, and she’s happy as can be, but just not nearly strapped in. I was like, oh, f*ck me. And I’m on the 101, and she’s just like blah, like fine in her car seat, nothing, no strap whatsoever. And I think I just turned white.

A message you would like to give to all the moms out there?

The message is that there are endless ways to do it. However your gut is telling you to do it, that is what's right. It's a unifying message that we all feel frazzled, we all feel overworked and terrified we're messing up our little humans. That's the beauty of this entire movie - it's like moms in solidarity.
