Pakistani artists have been unofficially banned from working in India post the Uri attacks. Post that, all the Pakistani artists had to leave the country and return to their homeland.

They are apparently not allowed to work in India unless the conditions between both the countries return to normal. Now, Looks like Mahesh Bhatt is all set to challenge that norm as he has reportedly approached a Pakistani singer, Shafqat Amanat Ali to sing a song for his upcoming play titled Milne Do.

Apparently, Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar was also approached for the said play, which is to be staged in Mumbai and Delhi in June. Mahesh Bhatt told BT that the play is about "cross border peace and is an initiative to revive the cultural ties that were completely eroded after the extreme positions, decisions taken by both countries post the Uri attack.”

When the daily quizzed whim about the unofficial ban on the artists from the neighbouring country, he said, "The Indian government never outlawed Pakistani nationals, so there is no official ban on them. After the Uri attack, the relationship between the two countries took an extreme turn. As storytellers, we should bring people together and create empathy, and that is what we are trying to do with this play. Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, who recently won an Oscar, said a very important and brave thing - 'Dividing the world into the 'us' and 'our enemies' creates fear, a deceitful justification for aggression and war’.”
