Prakash Jha is making full-fledged acting debut in his upcoming police drama Jai Gangaajal and the director says he would love to continue his stint in front of the camera. Jha, 63, who has also directed the movie, plays a corrupt cop in the Priyanka Chopra-starrer.

"While writing the story and this particular character, I thought I could do it. I felt it would be something new and interesting to try so I decided to play the role. It has been a great experience in front of the camera. I would love to act in future too, if I get good offers," Jha told PTI.

Jai Gangaajal marks the first collaboration between the director and Priyanka and the filmmaker said they wanted to work with each other since Rajneeti.

"Priyanka was my first choice for the role of Abha Mathur in 'Jai Gangaajal'. In fact, we have been talking about working with each other since 'Rajneeti'. She contacted me when I was writing 'Jai Gangaajal' and said, 'No one else but I will play this role'. So, she was on board."

Priyanka is doing well internationally thanks to the success of her TV show Quantico. Jha said Priyanka's Hollywood success is "well deserved".

"This was bound to happen. The way she has evolved as an actress and person, she deserves this success. I am very happy for her."

The film will hit theatres on March 4. Post that, Jha will focus on the sequel to "Rajneeti".

"The work on 'Rajneeti 2' has already started. I am writing the story. The cast is yet to be decided. We should start filming in a year's time."

The 2010 film had Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Manoj Bajpayee and Arjun Rampal.
