Actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge has dismissed reports that she is being lined up to become the first female "Doctor Who".

Speaking to Digital Spy at the BAFTA TV Awards, the 31- year-old actress said, "I am not going to be the first female Doctor, not that I know of. As far as I know, I am in the Star Wars film, yes!

"I just started thinking I'd make a ridiculous plot to the film, but I've been advised not to do that. So yes, poker face I'm afraid."

Waller-Bridge won the best female comedy performance trophy at the ceremony for the critically-acclaimed show "Fleabag", beating Diane Morgan, Lesley Manville and Olivia Colman.
