'Grey's Anatomy' team gives emotional farewell to McDreamy on Twitter

Grey's Anatomy team paid an emotional tribute to the character of Dr. Derek Shepherd in a farewell video on the show's Twitter feed.

The tribute came after the show dramatically ended Dempsey's character also known as McDreamy in the series and the tribute video begins with the moment in the bar when Shepherd and Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) first met, Deadline.com reported.

The show's creator Shonda Rhimes released a statement after Dempsey's final show aired which reads in part, "Derek Shepherd is and will always be an incredibly important character for Meredith, for me and for the fans."
