It was reported in April that Salman Khan was to do the remake of Korean film, Ode To My Father, to be produced by his sister Alvira and hubby Atul Agnihotri. But the actor began work on Tubelight.  Then came the announcement of Salman’s next film Tiger Zinda Hai, which will be directed by his Sultan director Ali Abbas Zafar. Now, a source close to the actor reveals that he plans to start work on Alvira’s production after finishing TZH. And that this project will be directed by Ali again, and not by Kabir Khan.

This is the first time that Salman will be working with the same director in two films back-to-back. While Tubelight is his third film with Kabir, they both did other films in-between.

The remake will only borrow the essence of the story of the Korean film. It is expected to be tailored around events that happened in India, perhaps, during the Partition. Interestingly, Tubelight is also said to be a remake of the Hollywood film, Little Boy. Salman’s interest has moved from big Hollywood blockbusters to lesser-known foreign films.

What Ode To My Father is about

Ode To My Father opens in present-day Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city, where the main character, Duk-soo (Hwang Jeong-min), is an ailing grandfather. It flashes back to Duk-soo’s early childhood, when he loses his younger sister and father in a rush to flee south at the outset of the Korean War. In his father’s absence, Duk-soo becomes de facto head of the family, the beginning of a lifelong sense of responsibility to provide for his loved ones.
