After making two back-to-back thrillers, director Arindam Sil has changed the genre and focused on the life of an old aristocratic family in the back drop of Durga Puja celebration.
The film "Durga Sohay" is based in the period between Mahalaya and Vijaya Dasahmi in a 'bonedi bari'(aristocratic family) where beyond the undercurrents of tension in family ties, people come together to observe the rituals.
"The film is about stree shakti (woman power), it is about women's inner strength and strong resolve... the female characters will steal the show," Arindam said about the movie shot in a north Kolkata mansion.
On the change of genre -- from thrillers "Eagoler Chokh" and "Byomkesh Pawrbo" to family drama, Arindam said, "Yes, I decided to take a break from my previous genre. And nothing is more apt than Durga Puja which is so close to every Bengali's heart."
The film, to be released by the end of April, has an stars Kaushik Sen, Anirban Bhattacharya, Ritabrata Mukherjee, Sohini Sarkar and Tanusree Chakraborty.
