Dumb charade to dancing on Kala Chashma: What I did when I was locked inside Bigg Boss 10 house!

The Bigg Boss team took 14 journalists including me inside the Bigg Boss house, four days prior to the show's grand premiere. Here's what we all did...

I am admittedly a Bigg Boss fanatic for years now. The show started when I was 15 (oops, I just revealed my age!) and I haven't missed a single episode of the show till date. Forget watching the re-runs of the same episode, just for fun. So when I was called and invited to be a contestant on Bigg Boss, even if for a few hours, I quickly gave in. But let me tell you one thing right at the beginning - this wasn't my first experience inside the Bigg Boss house. I was locked inside the Bigg Boss 9 house last year too for the experiential but I was too embarrassed to write about the things I did inside the house then.

So when this year, the Colors PR team called and invited me for yet another day of fun, gossip, bitching and frolic inside the new BB 10 house, I knew what I shouldn't be doing. Guess, I was prepared a lot better and it showed. We were taken to Lonavla and thankfully, this time, I had most of my journalist friends from Mumbai tagging along. There was Rajul from Rediff, Vijaya from TOI, Komal from PTI and Sameena from Asian Age in the same car as mine and I was relieved.

We reached a little late around 10 on the sets and met Swagata from Miss Malini, who was the only other contestant who, like me, had been a part of the experiential last year as well. After a quick round of snaps and casual chats, we were blindfolded to be taken inside the dreaded house of terror. Steps away from the house, we were told, "Don't look left or right, just go straight." Both me and Komal (with whom I entered the house) tried to figure out why and we did. Because there were no cameras on the side! Once we entered, we met the eight contestants/journos who had already entered the house before us. They tried to pull a prank and failed. After all, no one can pull it off successfully on the prankster! For those who don't know, last year I broke the store room door inside BB9 house while playing a prank on one of my fellow housemates. Ouch!

After everyone settled in, we had our round of introductions and started playing Dumb Charade. Mid way, Srividya (from Spotboye) and I had our first moments of embarrassment when Bigg Boss announced, "Kripya karke sab apne jagah pe baith jaaye." And then came the part we dreaded the most. NOMINATIONS! Barely 15 minutes in the house, we had hardly known each other when Bigg Boss asked us to vote out two contestants from the lot and adding to our woes, he called in for an open nomination. Sadly, I had to nominate two people, who I later bonded pretty well with (I don't remember having issues with anyone though!) and showered them with 'sorry' several times. Nevertheless, no one nominated me and I was relieved. But for the next two hours, we chatted, played, gossiped and posed in front of the cameras. Now people who know Sameena know she can't live without her hourly cup of chai. So when we entered the house, Sameena was the happiest to see a jug of milk, chai patti and a dabba of sugar in place. But the moment we volunteered to make chai for the entire gang, we saw that Bigg Boss had deliberately cut off the gas connection. Guess, Bigg Boss had it planned right from the inception. No wonder, bechari Sameena kept crying for her cup of chai! Soon, lunch was served and being a Bengali, I gorged on the fish (it was actually yummy!) while the vegetarians cribbed about the lack of options on the platter. Not fair, Bigg Boss!

Post lunch, we were informed that we will have to do the Bigg Boss task. What was it? Like the millions of people who sent in their audition clips to be one of the selected commoners on the show, we had to perform- sing, dance, mimic or do whatever - for 3 minutes on a dais specially put in place in the garden area. Bigg Boss mein aaye aur twist na ho? Aisa toh nahi ho sakta! Bigg Boss announced that while the 'safe' contestants will give their auditions, the 'nominated' contestants (5 of them) will judge everyone accordingly and give them tags. There were several tags - from Sizzling and Hot to Bakwaas and Thappad. But the two tags which everyone was scared of was 'Jail', getting which would mean the two contestants would land up in the stinky jail and will have to stay inside till the next announcement.

I'm sorry but I won't compromise on my honesty for the sake of modesty. I knew I won't be jailed. I had my act ready in place and after my good friend Komal's performance, I was called in on stage and I made a special request to Bigg Boss. To play my song. Much to our surprise, they actually did and the next 3 minutes, I forgot where I was, who were in front of me and I just danced to Sidharth and Katrina's Kala Chashma. Now, I wouldn't deny that I love the song and have been wanting to do a Dubsmash on the same but ho nahi paya. So when this happened, I gave it my best shot and the results were impressive. And I got the 'Sizzling' tag. Woohoo!

Tragedy struck when two of my friends, who had definitely performed the worst (sorry Ankur and Uma) were locked inside the dingy jail room. While we thought initially that it would be barely for 15-20 minutes, an hour passed by and no announcements were made. The entire house started pitying the two. So much that Ankur even walked out of the jail. Rebellion inside the BB house!!! Wooppee, ab ayega mazaa, we thought! Soon, Bigg Boss slammed bechara Ankur and sent him back to the jailroom. Not just that, in a matter of 2 minutes, Bigg Boss freed Uma from the task but punished Ankur and asked him to stay back.

After a while, Bigg Boss announced that it's time for all of us to leave the Bigg Boss house and before we prepared to leave with our bags, we all requested him to play one song and he relented. Except Sameena who was still busy asking for her cup of chai. Haha! While we danced to 'Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai', Ankur was still locked up in one corner and it was mid way through the song that Bigg Boss decided to set the angry prisoner free. We walked out of the Bigg Boss house. With memories to cherish throughout and with a bunch of friends who promised to stay connected.

Thank you Bigg Boss and the entire Colors team! And in case you missed watching all of us Salman sir, I have lost a lot of weight and I've proved it on camera. Why I say this makes for another story maybe someday later but I'm definitely hoping for a hat-trick next time too. BB team, you reading this?
