Deepika Padukone shares a close bond with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She is one of the filmmaker's favourite muses, having given well-received performances in two of his last films, Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani. The actress is currently working on her third Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, Padmavati. But we had no idea the relationship between them had such a rocky start.
During the shoot of their first movie together, Ram Leela, Deepika Padukone was reduced to tears on the sets. In a recent interview with IANS, the writers of the film - Garima Wahal and Siddharth Singh - revealed details of the incident. "It was Day 1 of shoot for her. Deepika had broken down because of some last-minute changes in the dialogues," said Garima. She further elaborated "Last-minute changes are a favourite thing with Sanjay sir. We guess he does it to derive certain spontaneity out of actors and to break their rhythm."
Well, it didn't seem to go down that well with Deepika that day. "She's usually very good with memorising her lines but the change meant completely upsetting her pattern. We sat with her that entire day and worked the lines till she got fully comfortable with that." Siddharth explained that despite it all, Deepika pulled through splendidly. "This is the scene where Ram and Leela meet for the first time as heads of their clans and divide their business periphery. What she did with the scene is something that's out for the world to see. We must add that she's a brave artiste."
The actress surely didn't make it seem like she was facing any trouble, by putting in one of the best performances of her career in the movie. DP is currently working on Padmavati with Bhansali, opposite Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. The movie is slated for a November 17, 2017 release.
