Hollywood director Chuck Russell is set to helm his first-ever Hindi film, "Junglee", which stars Vidyut Jammwal in lead role.

The American filmmaker, best known for directing Jim Carrey superhero fantasy comedy "The Mask", has joined hands with Junglee Pictures for the upcoming action-adventure film.

"Chuck was our first choice and we reached out to him thinking may be the story would appeal to him given that it raises an issue of global significance and to our delight Chuck agreed and he will be flying in next month to start the prep," Priti Shahani, President, Junglee Pictures, said in a statement here.

"Junglee" tells a heart warming story penned by Ritesh Shah revolving around a man who revisits his hometown and is reunited with his elephant friend.

It will go on floors in October and is aiming summer 2018 release.

Vidyut said he felt fortunate to get an opportunity to be a part of the film that has a message of global significance.

"And above all being directed by the legendary Chuck Russell is any actor's dream and I cant wait to begin the shoot," he added.
