That the Chinese love Bollywood is apparent by the popularity of Indian films there. Says a source, “Now, Shah Rukh Khan’s production company Red Chillies is in talks with a Chinese producer to sell the remake rights of Happy New Year for a fat sum of money.

Along with SRK, the film’s director Farah Khan is also well-known and loved in China.

HNY was extremely well received by the audience there. Hong Kong’s second-highest earning actor Chow Yun-fat, known for his collaborations with filmmaker John Woo in A Better Tomorrow, The Killer, and for his roles as Li Mu-bai in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Sao Feng in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, will be playing Shah Rukh’s role in the film.”
