William Shatner, who starred as Captain Kirk alongside late Leonard Nimoy in 'Star Trek' series, has defended himself on Twitter on why he did not attend Nimoy's funeral.
The Canadian actor tweeted that he felt really awful and here he was doing charity work and one of his dearest friends was being buried, the Washington Times reported. The 83-year-old defended himself after the New York Daily News dubbed him "Captain Jerk" for skipping Nimoy's funeral.
Shatner continued on Twitter that he chose to honour a commitment he made months ago to appear at a charitable fundraiser a lot of money was raised and therefore, people were most welcome to write him off.

.@c_write @LFarris812 Walking out on a major fundraiser wouldn't have you calling me a jerk for leaving a charity high & dry? Hmm?

One of the other misconceptions seems to be that folks think flights to LAX occur all night long.
