Singer Louis Tomlinson's famous friends Steve Aoki and Ben Winston have come out in his support after he was taken into police custody following an altercation with a paparazzo at LAX.

The singer's celebrity pals defended him, saying it was a "wrongful arrest".

'Late Late Show' producer Winston, who has directed a number of One Direction music videos, tweeted, "Shocked @Louis_Tomlinson was arrested. Vid clearly shows he pulls two girls off his girlfriend and a pap trips. Even asks staff for help. Wrongful arrest (sic)."

Louis' 'Just Hold On' collaborator Aoki posted, "Wish the paparazzi respected personal space. You can still do your job without having to put your camera literally in someone's face (sic)."

The incident occurred at baggage claim at LAX, when Tomlinson tried to stop a paparazzo from taking pictures of his girlfriend Eleanor Calder.
