Alia Bhatt OPENS UP on 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania', maintains SILENCE on Sidharth Malhotra

The year began on a high note for her. She bagged a Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her gritty act in Udta Punjab. Alia Bhatt will now be seen as a small town girl with priorities of her own in Badrinath Ki Dulhania.

The 23-year-old admits to having a certain connect with her character, Vaidehi, a couple of years older than her and hailing from Kota. "Kota is known as the IT city and Shashank (writer-director Shashank Khaitan) sees her as a really educated, Hindi-speaking girl from humble beginnings with a mind of her own. She later learns English too but doesn't believe education is defined by dialect. She also doesn't think getting married is her only aim in life. I like that," she told a tabloid. 

Speaking of tying the knot, Alia and 'good friend' Sidharth Malhotra are often spotted at airport taking off to vacations. When are they going to come out in the open? “I'm ignorant about all the chatter and I won't talk about my personal life," she asserted.

Back to Badrinath Ki Dulhania, the Bhatt girl reveals that they knew all along that they were going to take the franchise forward with Badrinath Ki Dulhania and that they will have to match up to the original saying, "There will be expectations and comparisons because Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was a younger film while this one is more mature in its message but we are prepared for that."
