After Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, Khichdi to make a comeback?

Now that Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai is back with Take 2, there is curiosity about the makers’ other popular serials Khichdi and Baa, Bahoo Aur Baby. Many viewers expected SVS2 to be aired on TV, but both, producer JD Majethia and writer Aatish Kapadia, maintained that the quirky series about a South Bombay family is ahead of its time — “its audience is on the digital platform” and so it returned as a web series. However, Khichdi about a Gujarati joint family with its witty lines and poker-faced humour, was popular among the masses. It not only had a second season, Instant Khichdi, a film also was made based on the serial. So, it makes sense to bring it back as a TV show, right? “It was a massy show, and we are interested in bringing it back as a serial or film. In fact, we are very keen on it,” says JD.

What about Baa Bahoo Aur Baby? Even this show set in a Gujarati joint family was a hit with Sarita Joshi as Baa, and Deven Bhojani as the slow-on-the-take Gattu. It had a second season, but for a short run. Says JD, “This show had an untimely death. It was discontinued during its peak. We all wish it makes a comeback — Baa Bahoo Aur Baby in today’s time! But first we want to see the response to Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai and then look into Khichdi, only after that BAB.”
