Academy taps Dwayne Johnson, Amy Adams, Riz Ahmed, Janelle Monae as presenters for Oscars 2017

This is another effort from the academy to show strength in diversity

In an effort to build and enhance the image of a diverse event, Academy announced the second batch of presenters for Oscars 2017 which includes likes of John Cho, Riz Ahmed, Dwayne Johnson, and Janelle Monae among others.

Making the announcement, producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd said in a statement, "No matter who you are or where you live, movies bring us together. Through indelible, fearless performances these extraordinary actors help make it happen.  We are thrilled to welcome them to the 89th Oscars stage."

Aforementioned actors will be joined by Amy Adams, Javier Bardem, Felicity Jones, Leslie Mann, David Oyelowo, Emma Stone, and Charlize Theron.

The 89th Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood. Jimmy Kimmel will host the show to be televised in over 225 countries worldwide.

The first batch of presenters included Chris Evans, Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Scarlett Johansson, Gael Garcia Bernal, Kate McKinnon, Halle Berry, Shirley MacLaine, Samuel L Jackson, and Hailee Steinfeld.

Also, as the tradition goes, Academy has already invited last year's winners Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, Mark Rylance, and Alicia Vikander to present the awards for Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.
