I first met Aamir Khan when I was assisting Ashutosh Gowariker on Baazi. I was clicking his pictures and then a magazine picked those up and published them. So he is actually the man who gave me my career. More than a friend, he has been like an elder brother to me. Besides professional help, he has also been there for me, each time I needed him personally. He has also been through tough times but all through that, he never shied away from his responsibilities and has stood by me.

He is a very upfront person, and sometimes it makes him look rude. He is so straightforward that it highly inconveniences him. I have seen him being in a sticky spot or tough situations when he has refused to do favours for friends. That puts him in a quandary but if he doesn't believe in it, he won't do it. His habit of calling a spade a spade is what I value the most. People call him the 'perfectionist Khan' but I don't think that is entirely true. I find him spontaneous on various occasions and that is very interesting.

As a subject however, he is not fun to shoot. He does not enjoy being in front of the camera getting clicked as much as he loves acting. He surrenders himself while acting whereas he is not entirely comfortable in front of the camera. I have shot him in all his commercials from Coca-Cola to Tata Sky and his films from Lagaan to Dil Chahta Hai to Rang De Basanti till now. In 20 years he has looked different in every film, so honestly, I don't know what the real Aamir looks like. His extreme will-power to accomplish anything is unwavering. I remember there was this one time he had to learn to play the drums for a show and he was relentlessly practising. He was obsessed with it until he perfected it.

He is turning 50 today, but he just doesn't seem to be getting old. I just hope that he continues to entertain and inspire us. I wish he continues to do the socially relevant work like his TV show Satyamev Jayate along with giving us a Dhoom and a PK. Another endearing thing about him is his love for Marathi. He has been learning to speak the language fluently and wants to talk in the language all the time. I quite like that about him.
