Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose?s grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose on Thursday said that the history of Indian independence movement has been distorted and demanded rectification of the same for proper documentation of the former's role in it.

?History has been distorted. We demand the NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to rectify it. It is the responsibility of the Central government to correct the distorted history,? Bose told the media here.

He said that the same distorted history is being preached and put in the school and college curriculum.

?If it is not rectified now, our future generation will never forgive us for teaching them incorrect history of our freedom movement,? he said.

Further launching a scathing attack on the previous government of India, Bose claimed that none of the previous Prime Ministers ever responded positively to the appeal made to correct the distorted image of Netaji.

?We tried to impress upon the government of India to declassify Netaji files, but unfortunately starting right from Pandit Nehru to Doctor Manmohan Singh none of the Prime Minister?s responded positively to the appeal of the nation to know the truth about Subhas Chandra Bose,? he said.

Bose said there should be proper examination of all theories on Netaji's disappearance, which have been in circulation with a view to arrive at a logical conclusion.

?We feel that a high powered special investigation team should be formed to scrutinize all documents that are released and prepare a report to be placed in both houses of Parliament," he said.

Meanwhile, the family and followers of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will organise a rally here tomorrow to commemorate the 72nd year of the former?s disappearance.

The Kolkata Police has already given permission to hold a public event.

Netaji went missing in 1945. His family members have rejected the theory that he had died in a plane crash in Taihoku, Taiwan on August 18, that year.
