Maha: 14.85L register for HSC this year, no entry for late-comers

Board to implement strict time policy, has taken steps to curb cheating, paper leaks

On Wednesday, 14.85 lakh students registered for their Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) board examination across the state in nine regions like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nasik, Latur and Konkan. Among these, 8.34 lakh are boys and 6.50 lakh girls.  

The students registered from 9,486 colleges. The HSC examination will be conducted in 2,822 examination centres. Out of 14 lakh students, there are 5.80 lakh from science stream, 4.79 lakh from arts and 3.66 lakh from commerce, whereas there will be 57,693 students from vocational course. There will be 252 flying squads across the state for board examination. This is the first year that Pune divisional state board have provided hall tickets online to schools and colleges on experimental basis for March 2018 exams.

Unlike previous years, the state board will now stop allowing students to come late, For example, for an 11 am examination, students were allowed to enter till 11.30am. After a couple of HSC board exam papers were leaked last year, the department has decided to be more vigilant this year by not allowing students the half an hour concession. This year, in order to avoid paper leaks, the board has also decided to send 25 set of question papers in each class with the supervisor to open in front of two students with their signatures. Then they can distribute it in classroom to all students.
