The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) continued with its sealing drive on Wednesday shutting down 30 shops, most of which included marble trade showrooms, located on Chhattarpur-Bhati Road for "illegal" construction.
The civic body had sealed a farmhouse on Tuesday in Chhattarpur. The sealing drive is being conducted as per the directions of the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee to crack down on unauthoursied constructions in the city.
"The Building Department of South Zone took action against commercial establishment on Chhattarpur-Bhati Road on the direction of the Committee. All the three members of the Committee visited the site," said a corporation official.
Meanwhile, South Corporation Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat met the Monitoring Committee to discuss the plan to reduce the conversion charges for commercial-cum-residential properties from Rs 89,000 to Rs 22,000. The move has come days after the civic body conducted a sealing drive and shut down 51 popular restaurants and shops in Defence Colony market.
