Anshu Prakash is Delhi's Chief Secretary and the AAP government should respect him, the Delhi High Court said on Monday.

The strong observation comes amid an unprecedented revolt by Delhi's bureaucracy after the officer was allegedly assaulted by AAP MLAs at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's house in his presence on February 19.

The court said efforts should have been made by both sides to assuage tempers, and breach of privilege notices such as those issued by a Delhi Assembly panel only "add fuel to the fire".

"He is your Chief Secretary. If you do not respect him how will things work? Was there no other way of calling him?" the court asked. The police have arrested two other AAP MLAs — Prakash Jarwal and Amantullah Khan. AAP MLAs Nitin Tyagi and Rajesh Rishi, who were summoned by the police on March 1, did not turn up.

Terming the alleged attack unfortunate, Delhi L-G Anil Baijal said there was no place for violence in a democracy.
