The Delhi Police have busted the infamous Jehar Khurani gang and arrested four of its members. With their arrest, 21 cases of vehicle theft and motor vehicles accessory theft have been worked out.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Outer, Pankaj Kumar Singh said, "The accused have been identified as Parveen alias Shanky, 30, Suraj alias Lovely, 28, Prakash, 24, and Avdesh alias Kale, 36."

Talking about the gang's modus operandi, the police said the members would hire an auto-rickshaw and get cordial with drivers by doing small talk or fetching spiked snacks and drinks. When the drivers fell unconscious, they will rob them. At times, they would also take lifts in private vehicles, and then make away with the vehicles. They would rob expensive music systems, amplifiers, and tyres, and at times two-wheelers and auto-rickshaws as well.

After several such incidents of vehicle theft, the Anti-Auto theft squad of the outer district was tasked to identify such criminals in the area. The team was informed that the accused persons would be coming near the water tank in outer Delhi's Karala. A trap was laid and four of them were nabbed while coming from the Karala Chowk side and moving towards Rani Khera.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that in the last one year, they have committed several thefts and stolen auto-rickshaws and accessories from various parts of outer Delhi, including Ranhola, Aman Vihar, Subhash Place, Bhalaswa Dairy, Sultanpuri, Nangloi, Moti Nagar and Shastri Nagar. "We have recovered five auto-rickshaw, a motorcycle, three auto-rickshaw engines, 13 music systems, amplifiers, and tyres," Kumar added.

The gang members further revealed that they started committing petty thefts and robberies in the area as they belonged to poor families and were in dire need of money. Suraj, Praveen, and Prakash already have five cases of robbery and theft registered against them.
