Family members of 33-year old Priya Mehra are in a state of shock and yet to come to terms with the fact that their only daughter is no more. Her father cannot believe that their son-in-law planned her murder and eliminated her owing to his monetary issues and the couple's strained relationship.

For Ashok Menghani and Manju Menghani, it is hard to cope with the trauma that Priya is no more but at the same time have to take care of Priya's only child — her two-year-old son Naish. Naish has been quiet since the incident happened but on Thursday was seen running around Menghani's home, which is barely few steps away from where Priya resided with her husband. Manju said that Priya was aware of her husband's affair with another woman.

"I wish I knew what was going on in Pankaj's mind and could save her. She would often come home when they had a fight. Only around a one-and-a-half month back, we rented a flat for them close to our home and they had moved in. Even when Priya questioned their relationship, he would beat her," said a sobbing Manju.

The family members also said that Priya had on one occasion even spoken to Pankaj's 22-year-old girlfriend and left home after that. It was only after Pankaj apologised and said he had ended his extra-marital affair, she moved back and started living with him in this Rohini house. The family alleges that Pankaj was, in fact, waiting for Priya to leave him but since the couple had a love marriage, Priya kept the wed-lock going.

On several occasions, Pankaj did not return home at night. Priya had on one occasion, around a year back, also spotted a gun in Pankaj's bag and on questioning she was beaten by him. Her parents were even paying the rent for their house which they had recently moved into. Priya's parents also added that they would want to keep her son with them only.
