Mayur Vihar businessman Rajesh Jolly, who had been in hospital since he killed the wife and the son of his business partner Ajay Khurana on April 11, succumbed to his serious head injuries on Monday.

His death has left the police in a fix as they had not been able to record Jolly's formal statement. He had been on ventilator since the incident took place. Meanwhile, Khurana alleged that other people were also involved in the gruesome double murder. He claimed that his life was also at risk and demanded security from the UP Police. Khurana's domestic help Rajender was discharged from the Kailash Hospital on Monday.

Ever since the incident, Jolly had not regained consciousness. "We tried our best to save his life but he had sustained serious head injuries. His statement was crucial for the case. We are waiting for the post-mortem report. Further investiagation is underway," Superintendent of Police (City) Dinesh Yadav said.

Speaking to DNA, Khurana said: "I have lost my wife and my son. My own life is at risk. I cannot afford to lose anyone else in my family. So, to ensure safety, I have requested for police security."

On April 11, Jolly killed Khurana's son and wife and left the businessman, his other son, and a domestic help injured in Sector 39 of Noida. He was admitted to the Kailash Hospital after suffering severe head injury during the violent confrontation.

Doctors attending to him in the ICU said he had suffered traumatic brain injuries and was on an artificial ventilator. His condition never picked up. Nobody from his family visited him. On Friday, following deterioration in his condition, he was referred to the Safdurjung Hospital.

The case is now being investigated by the Crime Branch. Amarnath Yadav, SHO of Sector 39 police station and Investigating Officer in the case, was transferred to Kanpur on Friday.
