Contesting the Delhi assembly elections from Shalimar Bagh, Rekha Gupta, General Secretary, BJP Delhi and Councilor from Uttari Pitampura (Ward 54) has been involved with RSS from childhood. Iamin talked to Rekha Gupta about why the voters should choose her and not her AAP counterpart, Bandana Kumari:

Shalimar Bagh has been traditionally a BJP stronghold, but in 2013, AAP won from here. Why do think you would be able to defeat AAP?
Last time, honestly, we did not anticipate that a defeat could be delivered at AAP's hand. This time, we have become more vigilant. So, this election season, we are approaching the voters with a vision. We have faith in Modi’s and Kiran Bedi’s vision and we have been able to convince the voters with the same.

How are you going to convince the masses to vote for you?

I feel that the last time we may have missed out on people’s voices, now we are contacting people en masse, trying to reconnect with them. We are confident that we will win the election this time.

Can you elaborate on some of Shalimar Bagh's civic issues on which you want to work?

Sewers and water are the main problems in this area. Parking issues and traffic congestion has also become a matter of concern.

What are your preparations for the polls?

Our Jan Sampark Abhiyan is in full swing. Door-to-door campaigns, corner meetings, jan sabhas are a part of it. We are trying our level best to reach out to our voters through every media, pamphlets, phone, calls, text, whatsapp.

Who do you consider your competition- AAP or Congress?
Both, I don't consider my rivals weak.
