A deputy commissioner of North District Municipal Corporation zone was critically injured after his car was hit by a cluster bus in the early hours of Thursday.

According to the police, SR Kataria, a senior Delhi Andaman Nicobar services (DANICS) officer, was hit by a bus on Thursday at around 6:45 am near Nagia park under a bridge in Rohini.

A civil defence volunteer, Anil Sharma, stopped the bus forcefully and took Kataria, who was bleeding, to the hospital in his car.

"The bus hit his car from behind, I stopped the bus and went to help Sharma who was bleeding from his head. I rushed him to the district hospital at Gulabi Bagh but they were not equipped to handle such a serious injury and they asked me to take him to another hospital," said Anil Sharma.

In the meantime, Sharma, who had Kataria's mobile received a call on his phone and informed the caller about the accident. However, he could not inform anyone in the family as the phone was locked.

Later, his relatives reached Gulabi Bagh Hospital and took him to BLK hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.
